Our independence
Opinions that follow the evidence
A physician opinion is useful to a court only if it is objective. These commitments apply to every WMC matter.
Evidence first
Dr. Wolstein forms his opinions after reviewing the evidence, and he states the limits of those opinions. He does not agree to reach a particular conclusion before the evidence is reviewed.
Fees never depend on outcome
WMC's fees are set by the work performed, never by the result of a case. This follows the American Medical Association's guidance on medical testimony, which calls for objective opinions and rejects compensation contingent on the outcome of litigation (AMA Code of Medical Ethics Opinion 9.7.1).
Physician control of professional work
WMC controls all professional work. Administrative staff support scheduling, records organization, formatting and billing; they do not form, interpret or edit medical opinions. Dr. Wolstein writes and signs every physician opinion.
Within expertise
WMC accepts matters only within Dr. Wolstein's demonstrated expertise and licensure. When a matter calls for a different specialty, WMC declines it at intake rather than stretch the scope.
Both sides
WMC accepts matters from plaintiff and defense counsel and checks every matter for conflicts before accepting it.
